Two separate houses let you choose the setting for your stay: Reinette Grise, sleeping up to 6, with its own private garden, and the Chalet Normand, sleeping up to 4, with a heated pool reserved for its guests in season. Both welcome solo travellers and couples, and both accept pets.
Choosing the Orne’s Pays d’Auge for your holiday
A landscape of hedgerows and orchards
The area around Les Champeaux belongs to the Pays d’Auge, a landscape of meadows, bocage (hedged farmland) and half-timbered houses. Your stay can take shape around walks, food discoveries and village visits, with a house to come back to every evening.
The Hameau lies in the north of the Orne, close to Calvados. From here you can explore both sides of the Pays d’Auge without changing where you stay. For a short break, it makes a natural first area to discover.
First outings near the Hameau
Camembert and Vimoutiers introduce you to cheese country. The Haras national du Pin (France’s national stud), about half an hour’s drive away, opens up the equestrian heritage of the Orne. Argentan can round off the programme with a cultural outing and a little shopping in town.
Exploring the Orne over several days
If you stay longer, you can widen your programme to Sées, Alençon or the landscapes of the Suisse Normande. These outings involve more driving and are best organised area by area. The Perche and the country around Bagnoles-de-l’Orne belong to other parts of the department: plan separate day trips if you would like to discover them.
The joy of a stay in the Orne is keeping this freedom: one day for heritage, another closer to the house, then a visit to a local producer. You can shape the programme around the weather and how much you feel like driving.
A house of your own, to live at your own pace
Each gîte has its own fitted kitchen and Wi-Fi. Reinette Grise has two bedrooms, including a master suite; the Chalet has two bedrooms with double beds, one leading into the other. Food services are available as optional extras. Access to the hot tub at 38 °C is included, with a time slot to book in advance.
For a holiday on your own or as a couple, choose according to the atmosphere and outdoor space you are after. With family or friends, look at the capacity and the layout of the bedrooms. The two houses can also be booked together, for up to 10 people across two homes, subject to availability.
