The Hameau through the eyes of Cyp

We welcomed Cyp and the France 2 crew to the Hameau des Prés-Verts, at Les Champeaux, in the Orne. A day of drawing, of our home and of the pleasure of meeting.

An easel in the garden

With “J’irai croquer chez vous” (“I’ll come and sketch your home”), Cyprien Guilbert, known as Cyp, goes to meet people and draw their houses. He arrives with his pencils, his brushes and a wish to discover a place through the people who live there.

This time, it is our turn: he sets up his easel facing our house, Reinette Grise.

On the paper, the lines fall into place. You recognise the roof, the façade, the familiar proportions. Cyp brings his eye and his sensitivity to it. The house takes shape in a different way.

Behind the scenes of the filming

A camera, a boom mic, headphones on: that day, the France 2 crew is filming around the easel.

And there we are, leaning over the watercolour with them, watching Reinette Grise appear under Cyp’s brush.

What the drawing makes us feel

Stéphane puts it in these words:

“It is reality, and yet it is not only reality. There is emotion coming out of this drawing; it brings out the character of the house.”

Stéphane

We see this house every day. Discovering it drawn by someone else invites us to pause on what moves us about it. Its lines, its details, the way it stands in the middle of the garden. The drawing reveals the character we are so fond of.

A meeting filmed by France 2

The France 2 crew follows Cyp to tell the story of his work in “Une idée pour la France” (“An idea for France”), on the 1pm news.

The footage keeps a record of his work at the Hameau and of this moment shared around the easel.
