A gîte near Lisieux for a stay
in the Pays d’Auge
Would you like to visit Lisieux while staying in the countryside? Le Hameau des Prés-Verts is at Les Champeaux, in the Orne, about forty minutes’ drive from the town. Its two separate houses let you pair your visits to Lisieux with a wider stay in the Pays d’Auge.
Reinette Grise sleeps up to 6 and the Chalet Normand up to 4. You can come alone, as a couple, with family or with friends, choosing the house whose layout suits your group.

Planning your day in Lisieux
The Basilica and the places linked to Saint Thérèse
The Basilica of Sainte-Thérèse is one of the great landmarks of the town. Depending on your interests, you can add the Carmelite convent or Les Buissonnets, the saint’s family home. Check the opening times and access conditions of the places you would like to see, especially during major gatherings.
If you are coming for a pilgrimage or a celebration, remember to plan the drive back to Les Champeaux. The Hameau suits those who like to return to a house of their own in the bocage (hedged farmland) after a day in town.
The town centre and the Saturday market
Saint-Pierre Cathedral and the rest of Lisieux’s heritage bring variety to your visit. On Saturday mornings, the market gives the centre a different atmosphere and a chance to pick up produce for a meal back at the gîte.
A single day can bring together a heritage visit, a walk and a little shopping. If there are several places you want to see, spreading them over two outings will give you more time.
Arriving by train, then on to the Hameau
Lisieux is served by trains from Paris Saint-Lazare. Times and journey lengths vary from one train to another: check your route for your chosen dates. From the station, you will need road transport to reach Les Champeaux.
Arrange a hire car or a taxi in advance, and think about how you will get around during your stay. A car makes it easier to reach the shops, villages and producers around the Hameau.
Coming back to a house of your own after the sights
Both gîtes have a fitted kitchen and Wi-Fi. Reinette Grise offers a large private garden and two bedrooms, including a master suite. The Chalet has two interconnecting bedrooms and a heated pool reserved for its guests in season.
Breakfast can be booked as an optional extra. Access to the hot tub at 38 °C is included in your stay, with a time slot to book in advance. That way you can build your stay around visits to Lisieux while keeping some quieter days at the Hameau.
Extending your stay in the Pays d’Auge
Livarot, Camembert and Orbec offer more ideas for outings. Choose your stops as you please, without cramming too much travel into a single day. The journey times given are rough guides, to check against your own route.
